How Much Does Myofunctional Therapy Cost?
Thanks to education and science expanding the boundaries of “the box,” many people are starting to learn about this important therapy. Not only is there much confusion about when to start therapy, and why therapy is necessary, there is also a pretty big question about how much does myofunctional therapy cost? In this article I will share some information about my programs and prices, what the difference is and the steps to get started with myofunctional therapy if you’re a newcomer to the game! You can expect to find some variation in prices and therapy protocol amongst therapists, but one thing is for sure….we are all here to help you and make sure you get the therapy you need.
Different Myofunctional Therapy Programs
Clients are not all the same, therefore therapy needs are slightly different for everyone. I have some programs in place to help best serve my clients. When choosing what program to suggest for a client, I am considering things like age, compliance level, advanced needs, goals for therapy, and budget.
Age: This plays a pretty big part in choosing whether a client should enter the Mini-Myo Program or whether the Comprehensive Program will best suit. The difference is 12 sessions with different goals, or 20-24 sessions with goals similar to adult therapy. It really depends. I have some 6-year old’s in mini-myo, but also in comprehensive therapy too. Compliance and behavior (or behavior problems) comes into play when making this decision, as well as input from mom and dad.
Compliance level: This might be age dependent, but it might also be related to special behavioral needs or simply the fact that a 17-year-old boy isn’t going to be as complaint with therapy as a 40-year-old man. Mom and dad usually help with this decision, but sometimes I just know that I can’t successfully complete a client in 8-12 sessions, so I recommend comprehensive therapy.
Advanced needs: This could be someone with a high severity score from the comprehensive exam or someone that has some swallowing concerns that will require extra time and patience. Someone with sleep apnea concerns may also be placed into this category.
Goals for therapy: I have many clients who really want to do this process correctly and they want to get the most out of it. So these clients choose to do the “extra fun stuff” that is included in Phase II of my therapy. This fun stuff is working on breathing, posture, stretching, sleep hygiene and more. These goals for therapy are different than clients who want to do the bare minimum to just eeek by.
Budget: A biggie for everyone. Rarely do I have someone with deep pockets come to me and say “give me the works, Carmen!” Generally, it requires a bit more education and coaxing. But, many of my “potential” clients become clients because they see the value of the therapy and understand that it is very important for overall wellness and correct function. This education stems from the comprehensive exam, where my goal is to educate the person so well that they have no questions left! Throughout the comp exam, I am explaining and connecting the dots for signs and symptoms of myofunctional impairment and helping that person understand why they need therapy and what can happen without it.

Comprehensive Program $2800
This program is for clients with advanced myofunctional impairment.
The comprehensive program is a yearlong treatment program that includes unlimited sessions. A normal year usually consists of 20-24 sessions, so its not an actual âmeet every weekâ type of program.

Phase I covers: muscles, nasal breathing, swallowing, chewing, drinking, and resting tongue posture. Phase II covers: sleep, stretching, posture, breathing and individual problem areas. Phase III covers any remaining problem areas and further habit retention. This program is 8 sessions and covers: resting tongue posture, nasal breathing, muscles, chewing, drinking, and swallowing. This program is not ideal for snoring or sleep apnea clients.

Myo-2-Go Program $450
Treatment for myofunctional impairment is very important, yet some clients find themselves financially unable to afford my traditional programs. I always encourage that something is better than nothing. For that reason, Myo-2-Go was created to fill that niche. This program is completely video based. After your comprehensive examination, which I use to custom create your program, you will receive 8 video sessions that will lead you through the exercises.
This is a do-it-yourself type of program, but you can schedule check-in sessions with me any time. Motivation and self-discipline will be necessary to successfully complete this program! This program is not intended or recommended for children and adults with advanced needs. A comprehensive examination will determine level of myofunctional needs.
This program receives a complete kit to facilitate your therapy.
Myo-Express Program $350+
This program is for clients who are strictly concerned about exercises related to a tongue-tie release.
These clients will need full myofunctional therapy as soon as possible but want to begin with their focus on the tongue-tie revision. These clients still complete a comprehensive exam and receive a customized treatment plan but choose to begin with a smaller segment of treatment.
This program includes either 2, 4 or 6 sessions: Â 2 or 3 sessions of treatment before the tongue-tie surgery and the rest of the sessions following the surgery.
Myo Mastery Student Program $600
This program is for clients who are open to seeing one of my recent Myo Mastery graduates.
These new therapists are fully trained by me and will be eager to start your therapy. Throughout the therapy, you will check in with me twice to assess your progress and get feedback on your therapist. This is an excellent way for you to save money and give the new therapist a jump start!
This program includes Phase I therapy, and unfortunately advanced needs clients wonât be able to participate in this program. Each client must have a comprehensive examination to determine severity of myofunctional needs.
How do I get started with Myofunctional Therapy?
The first step to getting started with therapy is to do either a free 30-minute assessment or jump right to a comprehensive exam.
The free 30-minute assessment does not get into the examination stuff, but it is meant to answer your questions, allow you to meet me online and see what tele-therapy is like, and it allows us to determine if it makes sense for you to move to the next step, which is a paid comprehensive exam.
The comprehensive exam is a mandatory part of the process and is required for anyone wishing to work with me. The purpose of this exam is three-fold. It helps identify all the areas of myofunctional impairment and helps you understand why you need therapy. It helps me to determine the cost of your recommended therapy. And it gives me the basis for building your customized therapy plan. This exam takes one hour.
What happens after that?
Once the exam is completed, we will talk about your best options for therapy and I will email your therapy options to you. Once you select your plan, you will make payment and sign paperwork and then I will mail your kit. Once you get your kit, you will take photos and a swallowing video. At that point you are ready to start therapy!
I hope that helps clear up a bit of the question “How much does Myofunctional Therapy cost?”. I encourage potential clients not to get so caught up in the numbers part but to complete a comprehensive exam to learn more about myofunctional therapy, why it’s necessary and more importantly what that the myofunctional impairment snapshot looks like for that person. It can sure be an eye opener. From that point we can find a program to work with your wallet. Some other helpful information can be found here. If you have questions, I am happy to help you and get you on your wellness journey. You can contact me here to schedule an appointment or drop me an email.
Be Well!
