Post Frenectomy Surgery  Instructions

We want to help you ensure the success of your frenectomy procedure.  Regardless of the method of the procedure, it is important for your provider to tell you how to take care of the wound.  Many providers have different instructions and many do’s and don’ts.  This makes it impossible for us to know exactly what your provider wants you to do.  For this reason, we have this page to share some resources with you, but ultimately you should be asking your provider for this information.

More than anything, we want three things to happen….

  • Watch this video that I created about wound care.
  • Next, watch the videos on this page and you come up with questions that you have for your provider.  Write them down.  Put them in your phone.  Send them an email.  Make sure that your questions get answered!
  • After you check out this page, we want you to set a reminder in your phone to make sure you don’t leave your providers office without instructions or getting your questions answered!

Below we are instructions for before the frenectomy as well as several resources from some provider’s that we work with and trust.  Their information is wonderful and will be very helpful to you!

Preparing For Your Release Day

It’s almost frenectomy day!  For an optimum experience, we encourage you to do the following things (unless your provider tells you something different).

  • Get a good night sleep the night before.  Being well rested will help keep emotions in check.  Quality sleep is also a modulator of pain, so lack of sleep might make the procedure seem more uncomfortable.
  • Eat a good meal before your procedure (unless your provider tells you something different).  Enjoy a balanced satisfying breakfast with quality carbohydrates, fats and protein so that your blood sugar stays balanced and you feel satiated for several hours.
  • Stay hydrated with quality water.  Dehydration can affect how the body heals.
